Ridley Scott's Alien prequel....no longer an Alien prequel.....?
The project has morphed into an original sci-fi movie entitled Prometheus, with 'strands of Alien's DNA'
Well, it seems as if there is no longer an Alien prequel. What started out as a film expanding the backstory of Ridley Scott‘s 1979 sci-fi-thriller-monster movie masterpiece has become something else. 20th Century Fox has officially announced Prometheus, which will star Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth Shaw, and open on March 9, 2012.
Reports that the film once meant to be an Alien prequel has become something “more original,” and that the Jon Spaihts draft that kicked things off has been reworked by Damon Lindelof and Ridley Scott into Prometheus. In addition to the part being played by Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) there is another big female role in the film, which is being circled by Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie. Three major male roles have to be cast, too.
I like Ridley Scott and I LOVED ALIEN and ALIENS, two awesum movies! I am kinda glad that this is supposedly no longer a "prequel", but even if it was I have faith in Scott's ability to produce a great film. I honestly don't think that even if PROMETHEUS was going to be a prequel that it would still be an awesum film. I don't think that it will have any actors that have no real acting ability, just because they look good or are the "HOT" actor/actress (ie: Halle Berry/Megan Fox...yes, i said Halle Berry, I don't care what awards she has won, the woman cannot act her way out of a wet paper bag and DEFINITELY SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CAST AS STORM AND I WONT EVEN MENTION CATWOMAN........sorry, kinda got on a geek rant.... I am fine now ) or stupid/racist CGI characters in it to attempt to appeal to a wider audience (or whatever the hell George Lucas was thinking....yes, I am talking about THAT again...sorry, ranting over.....for now) As long as Scott sticks to the original formula it should be spectacular.. The first two ALIEN movies are classics!
But if he sells us Fanboys out, i suppose I will be saying this....
Now what I think Ridley Scott SHOULD make a prequel or maybe better yet a sequel of is the movie LEGEND!
What is light without DARRRRRKKK?
Darkness seeks to create eternal night by destroying the last of the unicorns, the source of all goodness and light Without Unicorns, Darkness can rule the universe with the power of their allocorns (the horn of the unicorn, the single spiral reaching like an antenna straight to heaven!) With the unknowing aide of Lilly, a princess who accidentally helps to trap the unicorns. But alas falls in LOVE with Lilly and tries to make her his bride.(which will prove to be his undoing) Lilly's true love, Jack, teams up with the other "forest children", Honeythorn Gump, Screwball, Brown Tom, and Oona to defeat Darkness and restore light to the world.
Two different versions of this picture feature soundtracks by either Tangerine Dream or Jerry Goldsmith. Written by Keith Loh <loh@sfu.ca>
- Tom Cruise as Jack o' the Green
- Mia Sara as Princess Lily
- Tim Curry as Darkness
- David Bennent as Honeythorn Gump
- Alice Playten as Blix, and uncredited voice of Gump*
- Billy Barty as Screwball
- Cork Hubbert as Brown Tom
- Peter O'Farrell as Pox
- Kiran Shah as Blunder
- Annabelle Lanyon as Oona
First off, the Tangerine Dream soundtrack is the best hands down. I t adds a real ethereal , fairytale-like atmosphere to the film....but the content of the other version does flow better and adds more to the story.
So maybe a sequel to this film? I mean it was left open, and to quote Darkness, "I am a part of you all! You can never defeat me. We are Brothers.....Eternal!" And the end of the movie shows him laughing so why not have him come back and attempt to get revenge by corrupting the offspring of Jack and Lilly? I mean you CAN'T REALLY replace Tim Curry as Darkness. But if you were to do so... I think that
Michael Fassbender
(Magneto in the superhero film X-Men: First Class (2011).)would be a good choice.
And Joseph Gordon-Levitt(500 Days
of Summer) is like Fanboy Gold lately, perhaps he could play Jack and Lilly's son and
Mila Kunis (Family Guy) their daughter (twins maybe?)
And maybe Jessica Lowndes (90210)
could play an evil temptress, a minion of Darkness. She looks like she could play the evil bitch role...but maybe eat a few sandwiches first tho...beef her up some.
Tim Curry is just a badass!
oh yeah I nearly forgot, if you knew that Robert Picardo (Star Trek Voyager) played Meg Mucklebones....omg, you ARE such a Fanboy!
